I have an A5000, PK232MBX (updated to Node/Gateway option) and I drive it
with !TNC by Garry, G4FRO.
Some time ago I realised that I could change TBAUD from the default of 1200
to 9600, and did so, changing the driver config. to match.
All was well until more recently I noticed that longer messages
autoforwarded to my box, when read were missing characters and whole words,
or parts of several words - not how packet is supposed to work! When I
connected to my local BBS, GB7ZZZ, and read the same message, all worked
normally.
My first reaction was to assume something odd in the autoforwarding. More
recently still, I found that reading the same message from my box several
times, it differed each time. Problem must be in house.
So I altered TBAUD to 4800. All is now perfect. But why? I cannot believe
that the A5000 serial port is incapable of 9600, and the fact that direct
reading from the BBS is OK at that speed suggests that the port is OK.
Has anyone experienced this, or can anyone suggest what may be wrong?
