PSCAN - SSTV via the serial port of the Acorn Risc PC - FREE!
-------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all. I am writing a comprehensive SSTV program for the Risc PC that
requires only a very simple (and cheap) "HamComm" style interface of the
type used with programs like JVFAX and GSH on the PC. Ready-made interfaces
can be bought from a number of sources (NOT from me - this is NOT an
advert!) or can be very easily home-brewed. The most basic circuit uses only
one op-amp and a few resistors, capacitors and diodes for complete RX and TX
operation.

The program (provisionally called "PSCAN") will not run on anything earlier
than a Risc PC 600, and although not tested, should be fine on the new Risc
PC 700. It *may* work on the A7000 but this is less certain. At least 4 MB
of RAM is required and the 600/700 machines must have 1 MB of VRAM. PSCAN
uses a fixed screen mode that is 640 x 512 x 32K colours. A suitable monitor
definition file for the Acorn AKF60 monitor is available.

Although I have written the program for my own use, I would be happy to send
a copy of the program to anyone interested on receipt of a formatted ADFS
disk and a stamp or SAE. Initially, rather brief instructions will be
provided; hopefully a more comprehensive manual will follow later. PSCAN
should be ready for release around the middle of October. If you would like
to know more, please get in touch via packet.
