I'll be driving from Florida to Virginia at the end of June. Have most/all
digi operators along the way converted to the new paradigm, or do I need to
have some old settings on standby in some areas?

I'm most unsure about North Carolina. After running into a R,W digi in
Greensboro, I'm wondering if that digi was an exception, or if that's
typical within the state?

Thanks for the info.

Savannah ga is using the new system. Coverage from Richmond hill exit to
Hardeeville SC.

There is a big missing hole until you get to walterboro in SC, then another
gap and Santee lakes are covered.

My destination is just across the Appomattox River from Petersburg...my old
stomping grounds for about 10 years. I've got some friends that are working
on placing a digi in the area that will help coverage in that area. Will
primarily benefit 95 and 295, but 85 through Petersburg and Dinwiddie will
see some help too. For those interested, information on that project is
posted at www.fieldcomm.org/aprs

Thanks to all for the reports.

FB Jason, if you have buddies farther south in the Alberta, VA area we could
sure use a digi there! 73, Ian N8IK

I have a similar question about west Texas - between Austin/San Antonio and
Midland/Odessa/Big Spring. I found no activity around San Angelo my last
trip. I would expect light coverage elsewhere but Angelo seems large enough
for a digi and gate.

For mobiles check that your path is WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 and if really remote try
WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2. That way the home RELAYs can respond. See

Between Austin and San Antonio, and those areas, should be no problem.

Look up AI5TX-* (Blanco), WA5IYT-2 (Burnette), WD0ACD, WB5BBW. There are
several in San Antonio, gates and digis, WA5LNL and N5VRP come to mind.

Midland / Odessa / Big Spring, look for KC5MVY-*, AI5TX-*, KE5PL-*.
They're there. I don't know about San Angelo, though.
