JNOS2 also supports APRS and is open source.
http://www.langelaar.net/projects/jnos2/
It has a mix of client and server functionality.

Thanks for the info Lance.
I'm building the UNSLUNG code now in what I believe is a close relative to
the OPENWRT project. Everything should be setup to drop in another module
and create an .IPKG from it. It might even be possible to use these
existing WRT54G packages:
http://db0fhn-i.ampr.org/wrt54gs/
This is getting fun...

Not sure the 54GS uses the same processor as the 54G - it might. If it
doesn't you can't use these precompiled apps.
I never did take the effort to generate a .ipkg. I just ran the compiler
and FTP'd the resulting executable to the WRT54G. Never got past the
experimenting around, but it did run!

Doh. Of course that's all that's needed. I was looking at it far too
complicated.
Any chance you still have the compiled executable?
Of course it might be possible to run dos digi-ned (or JNOS) under
qemn but that's another whole battle.
Thanks,
Bill

Unfortunately not. I've gotten married since then and the level of
electronics laying around has had to decrease!
I have some free time this evening -- I'll see what I can do to help you out.

It's a "Heads-Up Display" (HUD) with a number of applications in APRS.
Check www.hamhud.net, and they will explain it much better than I can.

See www.hamhud.net. It's a "heads up display" for mobile APRS. The HamHUD
displays received APRS reports etc. from those around you on an LCD screen.
It uses SmartBeaconing (actually developed for the HamHUD and fortunately
adopted by others) for transmitted reports. It also allows you to send and
receive APRS messages. The "breakout box" allows you to connect everything
to the HamHUD with one cable instead of three. The connections to TNC, GPS
and power then all go from the newly announced breakout box.

I can only get this setup to work using UI-View with the D7a in non-KISS
Packet mode.(GPS connected D7 gps port, D7 pc port connected to laptop.)
Street Atlas v.6 doesn't see the GPS at all in this configuration.
Anyone know if you need to send a command to the D7a in packet mode
in order to enable GPS pass-through?
