I'm just north of there, next county up. Our house didn't lose power this
time for once! The weather here over the last 5 weeks or so has been truly
amazing, what with 2 big windstorms, MAJOR flooding (took out many of my
neighbors), a big snowfall in the lowlands that turned to ice on the roads
down in King/ Pierce/ Thurston counties... Major bridges including the 520
bridge across Lake Washington, the Hood Canal bridge, and the Tacoma
Narrows bridge were closed last night, not sure which have been opened yet.
Many people here at work live down in King County and are without power.
Many others in Snohomish county or Island County are also without power.
Many trees are down all over. Transformers were exploding all over. One
lady down south drowned in her basement which filled to the rafters with
water, and two deaths have been attributed to falling trees on the roads so
far. We had trees falling all up and down our road: The big one north of
me was already opened up with a chainsaw so I got to work on the first path
I took, but there are leaning trees so the schoolbus can't gather up kids
today.
KD7NM had an Xastir snapshot of the region showing the wind vanes yesterday
but I haven't checked it today. The storm's about over though, or so they
say. We might get snow this weekend yet, but probably not at the lowest
elevations.

You mean APRS traffic trends or car traffic? WSDOT has traffic cams and
animated maps, but I heard a lot of their sensors were down because of the
power outages.

One good picture of the affected area in Seattle is the DOT traffic web
page. Most of the white road segments indicate that there's no power to
those sensors:

I meant APRS traffic. See if we've got sections of the map disappearing.
Things have been pretty crazy down here in California, too. We had, like,
half an inch of rain the other day! =]

Hah! We had over 1" in an hour somewhere near Seattle yesterday, probably
SeaTac Airport.
Look at the downturn across nearly all clients on these graphs. I expect
most of it is due to this area being without power. This is a big APRS
area so it's a viewable percentage of the inet feeds:

I'm 158 km NW of Seattle. I grabbed a static screenshot of stations heard on
RF (direct or via digis) at 1025 PST Dec 15 2006. It can be viewed at...
www.ve7gdh.ca/APRS/UI-View/UI-View32_Dec_15_2006.htm
or just go to www.ve7gdh.ca, click on APRS, click on UI-View and follow the
link to the "UI-View 3" page.
While other areas got hammered by this latest storm, Salt Spring Island
was spared major damage this time around. We weren't so lucky with the
last few wind storms.

Add me to the "Wimp" team, here in Phoenix, 1/2 inch of rain can do damage.
