Hi Mark,
I work for a wireless ISP and we use a lot of the WRT54G's for customer
installs. On occasion, we have had some brand new out of the box units
where the WAN port would not work. You would get a link light and
everything would appear to be okay, but it would not get an IP address from
the backbone no matter what. Plug a different WRT54G in, and it would work
fine. It is possible that you just got a bad unit. Since your other
router works, it would point to the WRT54G as the problem. If you can,
take it back and exchange it for another.
Having said that, the Linksys WRT54G units are excellent routers overall
and we rarely have any problems.

Hi All
aprs_scs has it own Status page. Each received Status for each station it
stored there. Each stations Status is stored there until a new status is
received from that station.
Just like APRSdos does it.

Thanks for all the responses.
Here's what we did:
A lot of resets and restarts.
Tried new cables.
Changed the LAN IP of the router to 192.168.2.1
Tried an entirely different brand of router - a brand new D-Link WBR-1310
(it failed to link also).
Tried MAC Cloning.
We pretty much covered what everyone has suggested.
We did everything but wait a few hours as was suggested by one person.

Mark

I found an online video news report about the balloons. It even mentions
the "testing" of the "GPS trackers."

I have, a DM2550, running as ZL1VFO-10.
I have a circuit of the h/held radio version, which is very similar.

It sounds like you used APRS for foot races much the same way that I have
used it for bicycle events.
However, with the foot races that I have been involved with, there have
been little to no "support crews" that were mobile on the course, so there
has not been much to track. We did trail the lead runner and last runner,
but I was looking to see if there was more to track.
Thanks for the ideas...I'll shake some trees and see if I can find some
other things moving on the course to put trackers on.

I know of no other APRS software that supports the "dead-reckoning" like
APRSdos does where a station will follow a pre-defined route and not just a
straight line...that may very well be a reason for me to look into APRSdos.
Thanks for the ideas Bob!
