Doug,
In the KPC3+ there are only two first analog inputs ready to use (AN0 and
AN1). You need just to install proper resistance for voltage divider (R27
for AN0 and R13 for AN1), so the voltage would be in the range of 0-5V in
the K (AN0) and J (AN1) points.
I've installed R27 41k2 (most common); in such case when R24 is already
10k AN0 input before divider is in range of 0-25.5V getting 0-5V in the K
point. This is for easy battery voltage calculation. APRS analog telemetry
range is 0-255. Having voltage of 12.2V you get 122 in telemetry packet.
Moreover for AN0 and AN1 in the KPC3+ you need configure jumpers J8 and
J10 to have AN0 and AN1 on the DB-9 radio port (pins 4, 8) or DB-25 comp
port (pins 18, 11). See
http://www.kantronics.com/documents/kpc3ppinout.pdf
Other analog telemetry inputs AN2, AN3, AN5 are available with some
modifications. I used description from
http://home.teleport.com/~n3eg/kpc3telem.html
Temperature measure and current measure circuits I took from Bob

What is the general concensus about having a packet node on 144.390?

In otherwords what NMEA GPS's do not accept the $GPWPL sentence
That the D7 and D700 use to send positions to the GPS for
display?

I believe Magellan's use a different sentence. Scott knows all about it
'cuz the Tracker2 puts out both types of sentences.

the D700 and D7 (at least the D7A (G)2.0 variety) have waypoint options
for 6,7,8, and 9 digit NMEA, 6 digit Magellan, DGPS, and none. (yeah, I
know they're characters, but the menu says "digit".)

They'll take a proprietary version of GPWPL (PMGNWPL), but I think they
might accept GPWPL as well. Don't remember for sure. I don't have one
myself, and I can't find my notes from when I tested one.

How much APRS activity? How many normal APRS users? What "packet" goals?
80/20 or 90/10 for our data channels seems like a good plan to me.

I read some replies already, none are answering your question that I
"think" you actually asked Bob...

TripMate from Delorme, Rand McNally, Radio Shacks DigiTraveler, and I
think some of the Magellins, Garmins do not have displays.. In other
words, Bob, please explain your question again, :-)

I would wonder what's wrong with the channels like 145.010, 145.050, and
I think 144.950.. Of course, I beleive those are channels around me that
have "nodes", BBSs I guess you mean.

What is the level of activity on the 144.390 frequency.. I have reason
to beleive it would be a no go around the Chicagoland area!
