==================

Would you please post to the group that I have finally uploaded a MAJOR
upgrade to HamLog for the Mac. The new version is HamLog 4.0. It is, IMHO,
the absolute best logging solution available for the Mac! The final version
will ship on CD-ROM and will include the entire FCC database along with
automatic lookups from HamLog when the station callsign is entered.

The posted demo version 4.0.1p is a pre-release. This means that a few of
the features are still being developed. Howvwer about 90% of HamLog is fully
functional. Although HamLog 4.0.1p is a pre-release, IT IS 100% STABLE! This
is NOT (I repeat NOT) beta software that is going to do nasty things to your
Mac! It was created with FileMaker Pro Developers Edition. However, it does
NOT require the end user to own FileMaker Pro. HamLog 4.0 is a stand-alone
solution.

Also, obviously the demo version does not include the entire FCC database.
This file alone takes up about 280megs on the CD-ROM. The demo version
includes a very small version of the FCC database. It is actually the first
427 hams in the database. I have also included a list of these callsigns in
the Read Me files so a person try them out and can see how HamLog 4.0 does a
lookup.

To run HamLog 4.0 you need the following minimum equipment and software: any
Macintosh, Power Macintosh, or compatible computer running System 7.1 or
later; a hard disk and 4 MB or RAM (8 MB of RAM is recommended). Also, a
color monitor at least with a 640X480 screen is best.

The download is about 2.8 meg. You can get it by going to:

http://www.mindspring.com/~kmb/hamlog4.html

Please Note: After the HamLog folder unstuffs, double-click on a file called
"HamLog 4.0.1p" to start HamLog.

Known Problems or Typos (January 21, 1999)

1. The "Read Me First" documentation says to start HamLog by double-clicking
on a file called "HAMLOG.FP3". This should instead read "HamLog 4.0.1p".
This has been coreected.
2. The "Click Here" label on the "Not Enabled" screen is jumbled. This has
been fixed.

Please send me any reports of font problems (especially on buttons), and any
typos, or problems. No problem is too small! Also I would like your
suggestions for features to include in future versions.

Thanks for posting this to the group!

Sincerely,

Keith M. Bransky (KE1TH)
