I use Net/Mac application together with IM/Mac in a full blown TCP/IP
network on several of my Mac computers. I also use WinPack on my
PC-computer.

Several Mac's using NetMac runs FTP/SMTP/TELNET etc very fine. The author
of Net/Mac are PA2AGA and of course it's free of charge.

As to use the computer to act as a modem I've only heard of one
application that can do the trick and it's a HyperCard-stack. I haven't
used it since I don't run HyperCard but I think it's on the InterNet
somewhere.

Good luck with your Mac.
