¥ QU - 'BinHex4.0' and 'FileSegments' for Macintosh ¥
¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥
QU requires Macintosh System 7.1, or better, on either a Motorola 68020 cpu, or better, with 32-bit addressing enabled, or on a PPC cpu.
QU decodes any BinHex4.0 (...hqx) files and encodes any files into BinHex4.0 (hqx) format.
QU joins QU-file segments and re-creates the originally unsegmented file.
QU segments the datafork of any file into file segments of a size of between 2000 and 32000 characters each, with the size to be determined by the user.
The resulting file segments each consist of a nearly plain English header e.g.->
"WISKYcry=seg6of62=MacOS 8 primer.pdf.hqx=siz32000=crc26888="
followed by the body of the segment data, followed by an end-of-file line ->
"WISKYcry"
By encapsulating and clearly marking the segmented data this way even users who dont have QU but have a copy of the freeware "StuffIt Expanderª" or some other, commercially available program, may make use of QU-segmented files simply by pasting the body o
Furthermore there is the added advantage of easily 'joining' QU-segmented files which have been posted to a paket radio bbs. Let's assume someone has posted e.g. 9 QU-segmented files to 'Apple'. Instead of reading from the bbs and saving into the harddisc
For a free copy of QU :
