Hello
These are my thoughts to the theme "Ham-Advertisement". They
are epecially relevant to South Africa and similar
countries.
Well , we all should disdain from the thought of making
money with Ham-radio-E.G. Selling and such on air. I don't
think this idea has been breached.
Consider : Here in SA, there are few with lots of money.
There is no WEB assistance to many and as well, many can not
afford one of the foreign magazines for information - to be
uptodate. And our master Club Magazine is once in a year or
such.
How then, would a Ham in this quarter of the Bushes be
informed of new developments? Ideas? Antennas, Ways and
Regulations? You tell me.
Folks, times have changed. Why not tell the HAM-fraternity
that there is this and that availabe, invented, to have and
had? Where else would one of our chaps hear of it? YOU TELL
ME. If you think there is a resource in every county
availabe , eager and ready? Fine - thats your world. NOT
HERE.
NO, emphatically no, this is not advertising. If you think
so - turn on your TV and youll see what is.
Consider : There is endless talk on the bands of Kenwwod,
Yaesu, Alinco etc. No one ever mentioned : Making money?
Just because these are Multi million - whatever - factories
and NO HAM inside? You might even err here. There is talk
about a HB9CV , a G5RV antenna and else. No qualms here.
Yes , I thought about it long and hard.
Advertising is something more than just making known. WHY -
yes - WHY not use Packet for it? My thought is - thats the
right way - the way to go - USE Packet.
Yes, use it NOT for doing the actual business, shoving
moneys back and fourth.
Remember? Years ago - shurely an american Ham wondered : I
have thousands here in dollars worth of Ham - radio. I
Cannot order a Pizza with it. With a 20 dollar CB I can.
WEll, reflect on that. Its true. No business. Period. But
why not tell the Hams that there is a new Pizza available?
Oops not a Pizza - a Antenna - something Ham-related even.
How about that?
Yes , I understand the old school thinking...But just making
known?
You condemn that?
Money. Thats it. If you hope the future will be
cheaper...Ideas laid out for nothing? Consider alone the
postal fare. You are idealising a world out there which was.
You would like to see. Me too. Many here cannot afford the
yearly cost membership for our Head bureaux. At about 38 EU.
This will also indicate that few will ever be able to
indulge in a more direct affair of these antenna in
question. So the talk of mine will be moot.
Rather think of a more acceptable way to make ideas, new
concepts and such, known here , without disturbing the old
idea that someone might get rich. Got it? Youre the one
complaining.
My thinking : Use Ham- Radio for hams. Hams. Their ideas ,
belongings , hard and software and else. Why shy back? If
you think the old ways are out , find new acceptable ones.
Hey , Folks , a challenge. How about that. Ham related ,
even when not Radio. Work on it . Don't grumble. Yes , there
is still CW. Yes , there still is money.
