Hi Anthony and readers,

My sympathy goes out to the people of Japan in the wake of the
earthquake. I saw a brief mention on the news, sad indeed.

You mentioned the Superexpress train being derailed, do you mean the
Shinkansen or another express train? Being a rail fan I have photos of
many Japanese trains and noticed you give them some rather colorful names
like Cassiopia, Fresh Hitachi, and Super Hatsukari. Yes, good thing it
stayed on the right of way and upright or there would have been quite a
mess at 200KPH. I saw the wreck of the German ICE where it split in two
and the trailing section hit a bridge, horrible. Then again a train
doesn't have to be going very fast to end up all over the place.

My heart goes out to the homeless especially with winter coming on, most
of Japan with the exception of the southernmost islands gets very cold
and lots of snow. Don't worry too much, they'll be cared for and will
resume normal lives sooner or later but right now it's a mess.
