GE all, and welcome to the June 15, 2026 PCL Net.
Early check-ins from Scott, K0WAV. Net order is
Daryl, Bob (NY), Carl, Wayne, Charley, Rick, and
whoever else shows up.

Believe it or not, we have another net holiday
coming up...2 weeks from tonight, June 29, for
the July 4 America's 250th birthday holiday, on
a Saturday this year. The PCL Net will take that
night off, and we wish everyone a safe and happy
holiday. And, speaking of which, the Christmas
items should be in the stores any day now (hi hi).

NK5LA:

My new QSL cards have arrived, and they look great.
You can see the new eQSL card, an AI photo of me
in my Train Conductors Outfit (done by KD4YVV),
and my QSL card on my QRZ bio. I've been printing
business card size versions of the QSL card, and
will give them and the QSL cards out at local area
ham radio license exams, and regional hamfests...
including Shreveport, LA...Mena, AR...and the big
one this year at Huntsville, AL. It's hard to believe
those hamfests are just under 2 months away now. I
will mail these to selected folks, but the quickest
way is to log on contact on eqsl.cc to get it in your
logbook.

Storms again have plagued the region, with westward
moving storms last Friday night, with landspouts and
lots of lightning, washing out the Trains Net. A
short lived Tropical Storm may form along the Gulf
Coast this week, with more rain/thunderstorms this
weekend. The rain keeps the fire danger down, but it
makes the grass and weeds grow more than I'd like.

I have no plans for Field Day Weekend, but I will be
printing new exam books starting July 1, for the new
Technician Class exam. I'll wait until after the July
4 weekend to post out an announcement on it, as the
emphasis right now is on Field Day.

I had to reinstall APRSIS32, and get a new key for
it, but it, and my QRZ bio, are showing my correct
location. I'm reachable to NK5LA-G on APRS. I still
need to get a new key for Winlink Express.

I noted that radioid.net is implementing an annual
verification process. Beginning July 1, 2026, on the
anniversary of each account’s creation, it will
send an email to the account holder requesting
confirmation that the assigned ID(s) are still needed,
and that the account information remains accurate and
up to date.

If no confirmation is received, the associated ID(s)
will be temporarily deactivated. If RadioID.net is
unable to obtain a response after a reasonable period,
the ID(s) will be removed from the database and made
available for reassignment.

I guess DMR stands for "Does Mean Revalidation", but I
still think of the meme where the ham is holding the
cardboard sign, noting "Not Homeless. Need Help With
DMR. Please Help" (hi hi).

GE Bob, how was your week?? >>>

**

NS2B:

GE All!

It was a busy week. Had some dental work done - they
put me on a soft diet for a while. Like ice-cream -
I like ice-cream!

Went to the track yesterday. A good day of racing.
Later in the afternoon some rain set in, but it was
a pretty good day.

On my 3rd guess for Hamword today.

Still chasing APRS on the ISS - I finally realized
that since they moved to UHF that doppler shift is
actually a worry so you have to compensate as the ISS
passes. Still not a lot of activity heard. Maybe folks
haven't figured that out?

Speaking of DMR IDs - I think I'm glad to see them do
that. Otherwise IDs get claimed and never get used,
either because the user becomes dis-interested, or
they go SK.

That's it for me. BTU Daryl >>>

NK5LA:

Bob, if revenge is a dish best served cold, does that
mean it's ice cream?? (hi hi).

FB on the track, Hamword, and chasing the ISS.

I agree on the DMR ID...I haven't used it that much, but
it took BlueDV awhile to get my new data into its database.

GE Carl, how was your week?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

GE All.

Well, I have been taking the online virtual NTS training
and sent my first genuine radiogram last week. Just heard
from the recipient so I know it got delivered.

Bob has now reminded me I need to start HAMWORD for this
week, I will do that after the net.

Good luck with the ISS, Bob. I always like trying to
capture images when they send them, but that is usually
on VHF, so doppler is not so much an issue.

That's about it for me tonight. Back to net >>>

**

NK5LA:

Carl, I recently did an online Skywarn Spotter Training
course...you can see the certificate on my QRZ bio.

I never did start HAMWORD, but I need a new key for Winlink
Express, but that has to wait until next month.

Someone said that the new version 2 of the M1KE would get
pictures...I think that's just wishful thinking.

GE Wayne, how was your week?? >>>

**

KC2NJV:

Gentleman (and any Ladies) good evening...

Life is somewhat boring here... nasty T-Storms last night that
the dog woke me up about.....

My new car radio and antenna are working quite well, just need
to run power to battery and not cig lighter (will pick up
probably not much else... back to the NC....

**

NK5LA:

Wayne, you're not the only area that had bad storms. The NWS
confirmed a Derecho in the upper Midwest last week.

GL on getting the battery for the needed power. The batteries
I had ordered for my UPS's are the wrong size, so I have to
ship them back.

GE Charley, how was your week?? >>>

**

NT5R:

ge everyone

Good to get on, busy helping friend haul furniture, etc. to
storage building. Sold her house, moving nearer to family

Acquired several TNC's at Springfield MO hamfest couple weeks
ago. Good eyeball qso and visit with Scott k0wav

Daryl, I pass out eyeball qsl cards, business cards I've.
When shopping, etc., and someone asks for email address etc.,
just pop out card with all proper info on it. Easier then verbal
and double check etc.

So btu Daryl>>>

**

NK5LA:

Charley, it'd be nice when moving furniture items if they could
sprout temporary wheels when they needed moving (hi hi).

FB at the Springfield Hamfest with the TNC's and the eyeball
with Scott.

That's the great thing on those eyeball cards...I print and
design my own. With the HP Instant Ink and Instant Paper program
(for a monthly fee) no more wondering if I need ink or paper,
with my HP2728e printer, scanner, and copier.

GE Rick, been missing you...how was your week?? >>>

**

VA7RBP:

GE Daryl and all on NET.

Nothing exciting to report. I'm still doing 40M and 20M PACTOR,
but the bands have been poor.

The only thing that's been working OK is OLIVIA on 80M in the
evenings.

Field Day is coming up, so I've been organizing all my camping
gear and radio stuff. We will be setting up in a Lion's Club park,
only two of us so far...Hoping for decent weather...

Weather is warming up, and along with that we've been getting
some T-storms in the evenings. Probably not as powerful as your
storms.

Next thing I'll have to do is test all the interfaces and radios.

OK, that's all I have, so BTU Daryl >>>

**

NK5LA:

Rick, I saw where there was a severe weather risk in portions of
Canada recently.

I have not yet used remotehams.com since the callsign change just
over a week ago now.

Weather is always the fly in the ointment, and the end of the month
looks stormy here.

That's it for round one...back to the top for final comments.

Bob, thanks for the use of the BBS...anything else?? >>>

**

NS2B:

Nothing more here - everyone have a good week - 73 >>>

**

NK5LA:

Take care, Bob...see you next week.

Carl, anything else?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

Been laggy for some reason tonight.

Anyway, no more from me. 73s to all >>>

**

NK5LA:

Thanks, Carl...have a good week.

Wayne, anything else?? >>>

**

KC2NJV:

Not sure who uses Linux here, but found a backup solution
that is extremely flexible and fast and small data foot-
print, and if you are a Star Trek Fan, a bonus, called
Borg....

Otherwise, enjoy the week 73, all, >>>

**

NK5LA:

Wayne, thanks for being here...the Borg assimilates Windoze
(hi hi).

Charley, anything else?? >>>

**

NT5R:

Have an awesome week everyone 73 >>>

**

NK5LA:

Take care, Charley. Rick, anything else?? >>>

**

VA7RBP:

Nope, everyone have a great week, stay well, and 73 until
next time. BTU Daryl >>>

**

NK5LA:

Take care, Rick...see you next time.

That will do it for tonight's net. I'll try to get the scribe
done before the Puns Net, as I nearly forgot to upload last
weeks scribe (did that earlier today).

73, and GN DE NK5LA. >>>
