N5VLZ:

Sorry I missed last week, but there were
storms nearby, and I thought the same would
be true for tonight. I'm in a lull right now,
but storms are to move back in overnight, and
last into Thursday. We're under a Flood Watch
into Thursday, and we may be under Tornado
Watches Tuesday into Wednesday. It is now
officially autumn...but my money is falling
faster than the leaves from the trees!!

I found out that Perryville, northwest of
Little Rock will be doing a hamfest on Oct.
18...so, I had to move an exam session back
to Nov. 8. I took that date, as there aren't
any sports game conflicts...and I already
have one signed up.

Still checking on the APRS Thursday net via
the APRSIS32 software...they're getting over
600 checkins per week. I did a bunch of work
for QCWA during the last week.

I discovered errors in some of the BBS data
files, so I'm rebuilding those while I have a
break in the weather. Terminix is coming on
Wednesday to take care of a buildup of spiders
and other insects. I'm ready for winter.

I forgot to mention that I cut my own hair the
other day...I look like a punk rocker (hi hi).
While I saved money by doing it myself, next
time, I'll leave it to the professionals.

GE All!

It was a pleasant week. Got my Win10 computers
signed up for the extra year of updates so I can
put off stressing about end of support for Win10.

Did a little APRS with the ISS. Only a couple
times.

But the big event was took the Rochester Honor
Flight down to D.C. over the weekend to visit
all the memorials. Found my cousin on the Vietnam
Wall. It was a really nice trip.

To our surprise, they had a parade and ceremony
when we returned. It was a bit emotional for me.
But I'm glad I went.

WX wise it's been really nice here up until today.
Today, it rained off and on all day. Supposed to
be similar tomorrow.

That's all for me. BTU Daryl >>>

N5VLZ:

Bob (NY), FB on the extended W10 support, the APRS
with the ISS, the weather, and the memorials trip.
The monitor I had on the W10 system had to be swapped
out, as another monitor had failed, and the W10
computer had gotten lethargically slow.

GE Rick, how was your week?? >>>

VA7RBP:

Good evening Daryl and all on NET.

It was another good week, the temp. was warm, but we
had a lot of smoke from the wildfires. Yesterday,
it rained, and that helped to clear the air.

Last Tuesday, we did a Costco run to Kelowna and back,
8 hours driving, wish we had something closer...

Most mornings, I did the usual 40M and 20M PACTOR, and
someone mentioned ALLSTARLINK and ECHOLINK, so I had to
investigate and I got ECHOLINK to work on ALLSTARLINK,
and I got SUPERMON running as well.

Now I can make calls on both systems using SUPERMON.

Someone else mentioned APRS on 30M using Robust Packet,
so I have put that on my project list, but thinking of
doing it with my BPQ node. I'll have to do some head
scratching... I have done it with Pinpoint APRS, but
got bored waiting for HF APRS traffic...

Well, I guess that's about it for me, so BTU Daryl >>>

N5VLZ:

Rick, you have been as busy with ham radio as I have,
even if it's in other areas. FB on getting rain to quell
the wildfires, and while grocers aren't that far from me,
I have to wait until October to get more.

GE Craig, how was your week?? >>>

**

KE4CR:

Good evening everyone. This is my first time on the net.
I'm telnetting in. But, I found an RF path I'll try next
time. I use HF exclusively. Can't hit a digi from my QTH.
I check in using Vara every morning.

Wow 8-hour drive to Costco. I thought my 1 hour drive was
bad!

Well, I'm afraid I have to back out of here. We have guests.
Thanks so much for the net Daryl. And look forward to
joining the net regularly. 73 to all>>>>

**

N5VLZ:

Craig, first, glad to have you. We're here most Mondays,
except during the weeks of Easter, Memorial Day, Independence
Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Second,
get with Bob, NS2B, on HF options. Others have had difficulty
getting in via HF, and I use telnet from Arkansas. Thanks for
stopping by...will note you as 1 and done.

GE Bob (OK), how was your week?? >>>

KF5TVG:

GE Daryl and all on the net!

Craig, come back and visit next week!

Bob (NY), first of all, many thanks for your service! Sorry to
hear about your cousin. Glad you were able to go on the Honor
Flight. A cousin of mine in Kansas City to his (WW2 service)
dad many years ago on an Honors Flight and said it was well
worth it.

Last week, I mentioned getting allstarlink brought up to speed.
Now have the addons working in the latest client, ASL3. The old
hamvoip was based on arch linux, and the new ASL3 is debian
based, so some of the components are in slight different locations.
A pain, but not overwhelming.

Also have been helping a friend get goint on Meshtastic, and he
has a Heltec V3 board, which doesn't have gps natively. So I got
a cheap gps module from Amazon (where else?), soldered it in, and
got it configured. It works fine.

Also printed out a nifty case for it so he can use it on his
desktop or on his car dashboard.

That's all for now. BTU Daryl>>>

N5VLZ:

Bob (OK), FB on the Allstarlink and Meshtastics stuff. I wish
I had known about the honor flight before my Dad passed away
nearly 19 years ago.

I forgot to mention that in trying to save some money, I tried
to cut my own hair. I look like a punk rocker (hi hi), and I
think next time, I'll let the professionals do it.

That's it for round 1...back to the top for final comments.

Bob (NY), thanks for the use of the BBS...anything else?? >>>

**

NS2B:

Thanks Bob (OK)

Never cut your own hair - it won't go well!

That's all for me Daryl - everyone have a good week - 73 >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Bob(NY), now you tell me. Reminds me of where this XYL says
that if her OM didn't buy her clothes, she'd be naked all
the time. He lamented "now, she tells me!!" (hi hi). Take
care, Bob...see you next week.

Rick, anything else?? >>>

**

VA7RBP:

Nope, that's all I have for this week. Everyon have a great
week, stay well, 73 until next time. BTU Daryl >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Thanks for being here, Rick...have a good week.

Craig was one and done, since he has company, so Bob (OK),
you get to wrap it up tonight. >>>

**

KF5TVG:

Thanks to Daryl and Bob (NY) for making the net happen!
73 'tll next week! >>>

**

N5VLZ:

Thanks for being here, Bob (OK)...see you next time.

That will do it for tonight's PCL Net. I will try to get
the scribe before I go to bed, as I may be QRT until Thursday
due to weather. 73, and GN DE N5VLZ. >>>
