Hi to anybody who decides to read this.

I have seen all the mail appertaining to my "allowing" GBR mail to be
"sent" to WW. I have seen the usual petty comments from the usual
complainants, castigating me for allowing such a thing to happen. I am at a
loss as to why some resort to questioning my licence, the fact that I took a
three hour paper on electronics and radio theory and a CW test of 12 wpm "and
all that bunkem" ( he could not spell bunkum! ). Others stated that I could
not read a Sysop manual, and some espoused their sysop experience of 12 years!
Well, just for the record, without indulging in too much bitching, I have
the honour of being one of the first BBS in the UK, THE first on HF, and have
been running since 1982. I can read, spell, and run a BBS. I also ran a
Satellite Gateway and was in the process of rebuilding it with new gear,
until the whole Network was closed down last week due to lack of use.
I had just installed - with the very much appreciated help of Mike, N9PMO
the new 32 bit BBS and BPQ software on a new PC, with another PC running the
DX Cluster, GB7RDX. Mike offered to remotely sysop the system as I am away
from it for several hours a day, plus a few evenings, teaching CW, etc. Mike
had his system set up to reverse forward from me the TOTAL amount of
bulletins I had here, @GBR. I was unaware of this. My forward files were set
up correctly - and still are - and Mike has now rejected all @GBR bulletins.
I hope that this clears up any misunderstanding, and will expect no more
insults, or scurrilous comments. Whilst I can appreciate that mail should go t
to the designator entered, it is a shame in some instances, because some @GBR
bulletins ARE enjoyed abroad; I still import USA and VK bulletins and my
users do like to see lots of those.
We have lost a lot of packet users to the Internet, and scorn is often
heaped upon the now defunct Satgate Network, but I would much rather wait a
day or two longer for mail received that way than take the easy way out and
use Email. As for having a remote sysop in Norfolk, there are only two BBS
left in this county. We have limited forwarding via RADIO, most of the
inter-BBS forwarding is now via the Internet, more's the pity. At least my DX
Cluster is RADIO only, as is my BBS!
