There was an interesting piece of news in the Hull Daily Mail this week
with a report of a man being charged with the murder of 20 year old
Rebecca Love. The young lady was a student completing a course of study in
marine biology. Her mother became worried when her daughter did not get in
touch with her missing their habitual daily telephone call.
University staff broke into the girl's room using a master key and found
her body there.

Police traced her steps which included a visit to an automatic teller
machine. A mobile phone is helping them in their investigations but has
not been interrogated as yet. Its silence would seem to raise some
suspicion in the minds of the police.

Anyone who finds a silver Nokia phone should not approach it but should
alert the police to its whereabouts. The police are anxious to avoid
furher incident.

Red Hot Chillis: The Editor of the Daily Mail is anxiour to meet anyone
who can Chomp on a red hot chilli without feeling his mouth is on fire.
There has been some ground breaking reserach on this subject. It has been
discovered that some persons are unaffected by hot chillis while other
cough and splutter at the first chomp.Ptof. Morice, an expert on coughing
told the reporter: "Some patients say it makes them want to kill
themselves."
Prof Morice told the Mail that although some people are insensitive to
chilli, they can be hyper sensitive to other triggers, such as garlic and
cinnamon. This news may lead to some control over the use of such spices as
chilli and cinnamon. It seems likely that such spices have been serious
contributors to global warming and something must be done about the
matter.

Mr Cowley, an English teacher at Longcroft School and Performing Arts
College in Beverley, raised money for charity by chomping through a Scotch
bonnet chilli in front of an audience of students.

He said: "When I'm eating a chilli I do detect a change in temperature.
They are hot, but it's not a problem."

A Performing Arts College is not normally a place where chilli would be
found; the emphasis in such institutions is more on powdered colour and
linseed oil which, used with care would not affect the ozone layer.

The Daily Mail has asked for person with experience in chilli eating to
contact them and tell their story, all in the interest of science of
course.

A citizen of Hull has written a book about the exciting sport of darts.
Father-of-two Dave Taylor, 36, of west Hull, has played darts since the
age of 11 and will launch his book, entitled Make Mine A Double, on
Saturday, May 26 at Ideal Standard Club in County Road North, west Hull.He
gives explicit instructions onhow to throw a double. One of the worst
experiences, he says, that a darts player can have is to need a double and
throw a triple. A single is not nearly as catastrophic.
r Taylor, who is captain of the Ideal Standard darts team, has funded
publishing himself.
He said: "I started playing darts in 1985 and I have seen a lot of players
over the past 20 years.
"I thought it would be nice for young players to read about the stars of
the past and present.
"I have been burning the midnight oil to do it and have loved interviewing
past players.
"That inspired me to tell the story. It is a celebration of darts in
Hull."
The conservation movements have expressed concern over the burning of oil
at midnight saying that such a practice should be discouraged. With global
warming the carbon levels in the atmosphere could well be raised by this
practice leading to the metling of icebergs off the coast of America.

There it is - all the news from Hull. Read all about it. Comments to
Warren KB2VXA or Andy GM7HUD. Don't send them to VK6BE. He is still
reading G4EBT's news bulletins about Australia and has no time for
anything else. Only 14356kb to go and he will have finished that job.
Cheers,
Bob VK6BE.
