Hi Ian and all,

So far the concensus is basically in your words "the whole project needs
a root and branch rethink" but your terms indicate a change to the Board
or perhaps the heirarchy in general. Perhaps a bit of both? There are
other and better ways of promoting Amateur Radio besides (gb4) fun like
special events and public service, the latter having much more impact on
public officials having a great influence where it counts. Just a thought
on public relations that cost little inasmuch as they fall under the
heading of volunteerism.

Yeah, "daddy get your credit card" is spot on, gone are the days when a
kid could save his allowance and buy kits and/or books and build an
effective station out of scrounged electrical parts. Kids are very
resourseful but we're just about out of "natural resources" found behind
the TV and radio shops IF you can find a shop. (:-<)

When you come down to it what needs that rethink is Amateur Radio itself
but unfortunately thinking is in short supply while horses pulling in
different directions are plentiful. So, where are we going with this?
That's what thinking is all about mates and it's a lot cheaper than
petrol for the Fun Patrol van.

Just me tuppence worth, toss a few coins if you will.
