Yes, Max, and the howl from the American gun lobby reverberated round the
USA when the OZ Government carried out the will of the people and banned
guns. I copped it on a chat site from members of the NRMA who wept tears
of blood at the destruction of all those lovely automatic military style
weapons in OZ. They said, "Take away our guns and only criminals will have
guns." Yes, true, but the criminals aren't noted for going into classrooms
and tea shops murdering 30 or 40 innocent people either;it is the
seemingly harmless who do that and if they can go into a shop and buy a
gun, no questions asked, they have the means to commit mass murder, and
this is what seems to have happened in the present case.One fellow,
apparently serious about it, told me that he needed a gun in case his
Government (USA) did something he didn't agree with!! No wonder they have
problems.
It is time every country introduced similar legislation to that in
Australia and commenced collecting automatic weapons and putting them
through the mincer.
Yes, a political comment from VK6BE. I'll get in before the wolves pounce
but this matter goes far beyond politics. It survival of innocent people.
