NOTICE FOR AGM 2007

Annual General Meeting
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN  that the 80th Annual General Meeting of the Radio Society of Great Britain will be held in the Hawthornden Lecture Theatre in the National Galleries of Scotland, The Mound, Princes Street, Edinburgh, Scotland, on Saturday 28 April 2007, commencing at 12.00 noon for the transaction of the undermentioned business.

Agenda
To receive and, if approved, confirm the minutes of the 79th Annual General Meeting circulated to members with the April 2007 edition of RadCom (Resolution 1)
To receive and consider the accounts for the period 1 January to 31 December 2006, and the reports of the Board and the Auditors therein.
To call for volunteer scruitineers for the 2008 Board and Regional Council Elections.
To appoint the Auditors Sayer Vincent and to authorise the Board to fix their remuneration (resolution 2)

Notes  
Members are asked to enter the Galleries by the Western Link Entrance and attend no later than 11.45am. Doors will open at 11.00am. Refreshments will be available.
A Society bookstall will be open from 11.00am to 12.00 noon and again during lunch.
The Society will make available for sale an audio tape recording of the proceedings.  The use of video recording equipment will not be permitted at the meeting.
Members invited to attend and vote at the meeting may appoint a proxy to attend and, on a poll vote on his or her behalf.  The proxy need not be a member of the Society, but is not allowed to speak at the meeting other than join in the demand for a poll.

Presidents Address

A buffet lunch will be available at 1.00.  Lunch tickets priced £7.00 will be available on the day.

Open Forum
The Open Forum will open at 2.00pm and conclude at 4.00pm or shortly after.

The meeting will open with short presentations by members of the RSGB Board. On completion there will be an open session.

Travel and Transport
 If you travel by train, you will arrive at Waverly Station, which is just a short walk from the National Galleries. Edinburgh Airport is eight miles (12km) from the city centre.  Buses to the city depart from stand 18, which is situated outside of the UK arrivals hall.  The bus journey takes 25 minutes. Taxis from the airport cost around £16.00, most taxis are wheel chair accessible.

The National Galleries are situated in the city centre and parking is limited.  There is a visitor drop-off area but no car parking facilities at the National Gallery.  NCP car parks are located off Castle Terrace, Leith Street and York Place.  Walking from these car parks takes around 15 minutes.




Join us for Dinner!

Why not make it a full day out and join us for dinner.  On the evening of  28 April after the AGM there will be a dinner in celebration of Amateur Radio.  The dinner is being held at the Paramount Carlton Hotel, just a short walk from the National Galleries of Scotland.  Join the President, Angus Annan, MM1CCR, members of the Board and our guests of honour, including Trevor Baylis, OBE, and David Pratt, G4DMP, for a splendid social evening in the true traditions of Amateur Radio.  Only  100 tickets are available priced £20.00. As well as individual bookings clubs and parties may book tables up to 10 guests.  Tickets can be purchased via the RSGB on-line shop, telephone 0870 904 7373 or post from RSGB HQ. Last date for tickets is Thursday 26 April 2007. Dress, Lounge suit, Blazer or smart casual.  Demand is always high so purchase your tickets early and you won’t be disappointed.

We recommend you visit the Scottish Tourist Boards website www.vistiscotland.com to find all the local hotels and attractions. 
You can fly in to Edinburgh Airport with a number of airlines, Easyjet, bmi baby, British Airways and Lufthansa are some of them. 
You can also get the train direct from London’s Kings Cross and Manchester among other places into Waverley Train Station which is just a short walk from the National Galleries, and many other routes go into Waverley Station as well.
