Hello all AERO fans.

The next picture I am sending, is another one of a series of pictures
of an ILYUSHIN IL-76.

This is one of the biggest cargo carriers built by the Russians,
from 1971 onwards, to supersede the Antonov AN-12s.
It is capable of carrying up to 40+ tons.
With a wingspan of 53m and a tail hight of 15m, the maximum all
up weight of this aircraft is an amazing 190 tons. The loading
dimensions inside the aircraft are 3,4m high, 3,05m wide and a
lenght of 25m.

The aircraft is fitted with four AVIADVIGATEL D-30KP-2 engines.
Approximately 900 of these aircraft were built. The aircraft's
range is 10 hrs at a cruising speed of 750km/h.

This picture was taken while the aircraft was doing a flypast
during an Airshow held at the Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria,
on the 24th of September 2004.

The camera used was a Sony Digital MAVICA MVC-FD73.

4 files/parts of ñ 10022 KBytes.
