Hello all AERO fans.
Quoting from a previous info file, sent out by me on the 28th of June 2003:
Start Quote:
" Title: Mirage F3BZ-002.JPG info file
The next picture I am sending, is the last one of the F3BZ series.
This picture was taken by an apprentice photographer from the SAAF,
and he willingly handed me the picture to scan it. This picture was
also taken during the International Airshow held at the Waterkloof
Air Force Base in Pretoria, in 1995.
It seems that this Mirage 3BZ, has in the meantime been upgraded to
a "Cheatah C".
Scanned by Pieter ZS6PVW, using a SCANMAGIC 4800 EPPIII scanner. "
End Quote.

Now, luckily, this Mirage F3BZ was not upgraded to a Cheatah C. It
was standing in a hangar somewhere, where it deteriorated and seemingly
had been stripped. A civilian found it, bought it and restored it,
making it the only airworthy Mirage F3BZ in South Africa, and the only
Mirage in private ownership. The South African registration number of
it is ZU-BMD.
The next picture I am sending, is the first in the series of 4 pictures
of the abovementioned MIRAGE F3BZ. The SAAF fleetnumber of this aircraft
was 817.
This picture was taken when the aircraft landed after its flying display
during an Airshow held at the Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria, on
the 24th of September 2004.
The camera used was a Sony Digital MAVICA MVC-FD73.
