Hi Andy and all,

Naturally Bob loves to rub it in while basking in the Albanyan sun,
you're getting a tan standing in the English rain. Koo koo kajoob! (And a
few chooka chookas for good measure.)

I've been hearing reports of winter sporadic E but none here myself,
maybe it doesn't like New Jersey but not much does really. I've been
hearing increased activity on 17M lately and some weak stuff on 15,
particularly since this weekend's contest brought some good DX out of the
woodwork. That has led to speculation that the next cycle started early
but I doubt that, I have heard some fierce signals on the higher
frequency bands during the last two minima and don't consider it so
unusual. The same for 20M long path in the pre dawn hours, I've heard
plenty of that too. Rather than get all head up over it many have turned
attention to enhanced 160 and 80M condititions with the D layer at it's
weakest point in the cycle coupled with a low winter noise level. You can
get some pretty good ground wave on Top Band during the day so many are
taking good advantage of it especially those with low angle radiators
like my favorite, the grounded vertical folded unipole. If you think you
can't get good results with only a 60' mast think again.

As for MY VHF fun and games, come spring I'll be fixing the 6M antenna
and puting up stacked loops for 2M SSB. Just in time for summer E and
tropo I hope, that is if I can keep Murphy from stealing my money again.
Who knows? Maybe you'll be hearing my robust tones across the pond once
again but if you don't I can always send you an audio clip of one of my
previous QSOs with G8BCG, he's got good ears.

Now let's all sing a song from the Who, Bobby can you hear me? (He's a
six meter wizard, got such a supple fist.)
