Australia, VK. A DX story. Steve VK3SIX writes; During the recent ope-
nings, you will notice that I favoured VK3SIX as a callsign and often
operated from Qf02wh the beacon site 10 miles out the highway to the
west. The contacts were all made with the legal 100 watt power limit
in this region and were all made post the July 1st 1989 start up date
for 50 Mhz in VK east regions. The end result was 60 plus countries
worked under VK3SIX since 1995 and cycle 23 commenced. My second DXCC
under VK3SIX is being drawn from the contacts above and new qso's made
from VK3OT and never submitted for DXCC purposes. The whole 100 coun-
tries were worked since January 1st 1991 all on 50 Mhz, all legal qso's
and the 100 countries achieved in just 10 years. The VK3OT DXCC award
number 166 carries contacts spanning 20 years from 1973 to 1993 and
many from 52 Mhz days. VK3SIX

Greenland, OX. Steve KL7SIX, writes; The Greenland expedition to Cisco
island departed Melbourne today but with reduced numbers and GPS/Satel-
lite phone technology and reduced participation due to ferar of flying
and terrorism, it was decided to drop the amateur radio support. The
mode of transportation on Cisco island was dog sled so more money was
put into sleds and msuhers and ham radio was dropped from the intine-
   rary. Steve KL7SIX
