Marc will be QRV from Martinique Island, but only on HF and not on 6

Niger, 5U. Paolo, I2UIY reports that the DXpedition to Niger will
take place on 3-18 February. Seven operators will be active with
three stations on 160-6 metres SSB, CW, RTTY and PSK31. Further in-

Cocos Island, TI9M. DX'pedition 17 Feb - 4 Mar: I will be participating
in the TI9M expedition with my focus being 50MHz. We will operate a
keyer on 50.102 with a 15 second break between sending. If conditions
get good I'll run SSB on 50.145. Will have a 6 ele yagi, IC706, and
ACOM amp when needed. I will be working various beam headings looking
for possible scatter paths when conditions are not direct. If the
pileup starts getting big, I will run split listening up 2-5KHz. Look

Fr. Guiana, FY. Pierre, FY5FU, informs OPDX that on January 12-13th,
the Radio Amateur Club de Kourou (RACK - FY5KE) will be active on
Royale Island in the Salut Islands Group. Activity will be on 20-10
meters, 6 meters and satellite AO-40. QSL via CBA direct or via bureau

Bahamas, C6. John WZ8D/C6AIE, writes; I will arrive on Abaco FL16ip in
the Bahamas on January 1 and stay until January 10, 2002. The main
focus of this trip will be to work as many F2 contacts possible on 6
meters. I also will put a lot of effort in making WSJT contacts on 2
meters. All of the 2 meter activity will be in the evenings. Day time
will be for 6 meter F2. I will also spend time on CW and some SSb on
10 through 40 meters if six meters does not open. Look for me on 28.885
for info while I am in the Bahamas. I will not have the Internet while
there. I hope to give many of you a new country on 6 and 2 meters.

Sao Tome, S92. A Scandinavian team announced they will be going to Sao
Tome in early February. They have been given oral permission and hope
to obtain S79LA as their callsign for the DXpedition, which is planed
for February 4 to 10. The team plans to be QRV on 6-160 meters on CW,
SSB, PSK31, RTTY and possibly SSTV. Two complete stations will be used
around the clock, with an emphasis on the low bands, WARC bands and 6
meters. Team members will include LA5QKA, LA5UF, LA6EIA, LA6FJA,
LA7THA, LA7WCA, LC3EAT, LC6ZBT, SM5COP and SM5IMO. The groups pilot
stations are: North & South America and lowbands - Trond, LA9VDA

Namibia, V51. V51/DL2SL & V51/SP6IXF DL2SL and SP6IXF will be active
from Namibia in February/March 2002. Their departure is scheduled on
February 14 from Berlin and they should be active on the 15th from Farm
Heimat located 130 km west of the capital. They will be QRV as V51/
SP6IXF and V51/DL2SL until March 8. The operation is planned for all
bands with a TS-450, TS-50, and IC-706MKII. Antennas will include a 3
element Delta on 40 and 80 meters, TH3, slopers for WARC bands, QQ or
4-element yagi on 6 meters. They will also have wire for beverages for

Afghanistan, YA. The foreign ministry of the Islamic Republic of Af-
ghanistan (Northern Alliance) has issued the callsign YA5T, which can
be used on all bands by Peter/ON6TT, Matts/SM7PKK and Robert/S53R. The
"Good News" is Wayne Mills, N7NG/1, Manager of the Membership Service
Dept for the ARRL, reports: "The DXCC Desk has received acceptable
documentation for YA5T operated by ON6TT, S53R, SM7PKK or ON4WW. The
documentation is for QSOs made November 20, 2001 and after. No other
callsigns or operations have been approved as of this date." Also, a
press release on Tuesday, November 27th by Peter states, "The YA5T
license is now secured and approved by the DXCC for with S53R, SM7PKK,
ON4WW and ON6TT as operators. The team members all work for the United
Nations World Food Programme. Once the working conditions and security
arrangements allow it, the team will mount a much larger scale opera-
tion. The license has no time restriction, and allows the team to ope-
rate from anywhere in Afghanistan from 160m up to SHF, with power up to
