General information.
Guatemala, TG. Frank, TG9NX asks European stations who worked him on
6 metres (200+) to QSL direct only to his callbook address in Guatemala
(Francisco Capuano, 16 Ave 17-20, Zona 10, Ciudad Guatemala, Guatemala)

Bahamas, C6. John WZ8D/C6AIE, writes; I will arrive on Abaco FL16ip in
the Bahamas on January 1 and stay until January 10, 2002. The main
focus of this trip will be to work as many F2 contacts possible on 6
meters. I also will put a lot of effort in making WSJT contacts on 2
meters. All of the 2 meter activity will be in the evenings. Day time
will be for 6 meter F2. I will also spend time on CW and some SSb on
10 through 40 meters if six meters does not open. Look for me on 28.885
for info while I am in the Bahamas. I will not have the Internet while
there. I hope to give many of you a new country on 6 and 2 meters.
Thanks John WZ8D/C6AIE
Sao Tome, S92. A Scandinavian team announced they will be going to Sao
Tome in early February. They have been given oral permission and hope
to obtain S79LA as their callsign for the DXpedition, which is planed
for February 4 to 10. The team plans to be QRV on 6-160 meters on CW,
SSB, PSK31, RTTY and possibly SSTV. Two complete stations will be used
around the clock, with an emphasis on the low bands, WARC bands and 6
meters. Team members will include LA5QKA, LA5UF, LA6EIA, LA6FJA,
LA7THA, LA7WCA, LC3EAT, LC6ZBT, SM5COP and SM5IMO. The groups pilot
stations are: North & South America and lowbands - Trond, LA9VDA

Norway. (QSP de The Daily DX No. 237)
Galapagos, HC8. Jon N0JK writes; This operation took place from Sunday,
November 18th through November 27th, 2001 from the HC8N station located
on San Cristobal Island in the Galapagos. about 600 miles off the coast
of Ecuador. A lower level of operation took place (by N0JK) during the
daylight hours of the CQWW CW DX Contest. Jon N0JK was our 160m op so
had nighttime duties on Top Band. The HC8N 6m station consisted of a
Kenwood TS-690 (50W output on 50 MHz) and a M2 7el Yagi up 18m. Also
note the 6m halo in the picture. That is the antenna for the HC8GR
beacon on 50.035 MHz. Propagation was generally outstanding. We were
pleased to have openings to North America, Europe, the Far East (Japan
Korea, and Hong Kong), Oceania, and Africa. And we were delighted that
we could work so many stations with only 50W of transmit power on our
end. The pileups were all pretty well behaved and we did our best to
work the pileups down as quickly as possible. Good practice for CQWW.
Final results (November 18 through 27, 2001): CW; North America 667,
South America 4, Europe 232, Asia 547, Africa 1, Oceania 2, total 6m
CW QSOs 1453, SSB; North America 1057, South America 25, Europe 39,
Asia 425, Africa 4, Oceania 8. Total 6m SSB QSOs 1558. Total QSOs
(before dupes): 3011. Total QSOs (after dupes): 2625. Main 6m ops were

Afghanistan, YA. The foreign ministry of the Islamic Republic of Af-
ghanistan (Northern Alliance) has issued the callsign YA5T, which can
be used on all bands by Peter/ON6TT, Matts/SM7PKK and Robert/S53R. The
"Good News" is Wayne Mills, N7NG/1, Manager of the Membership Service
Dept for the ARRL, reports: "The DXCC Desk has received acceptable
documentation for YA5T operated by ON6TT, S53R, SM7PKK or ON4WW. The
documentation is for QSOs made November 20, 2001 and after. No other
callsigns or operations have been approved as of this date." Also, a
press release on Tuesday, November 27th by Peter states, "The YA5T
license is now secured and approved by the DXCC for with S53R, SM7PKK,
ON4WW and ON6TT as operators. The team members all work for the United
Nations World Food Programme. Once the working conditions and security

Cayman Isl., ZF. David ZF1DC, writes; Hi, For the many 6m operators
that worked ZF1RC over the past few weeks this maybe of interest: I
have noticed in some qsl address databases that ZF1RC is via a mgr.
This is INCORRECT ! Qsl for ZF1RC is direct only. QRZ.com has correct
address as well as my page www.qsl.net/zf1dc/ I have tried to update
as many databases as possible but cannot get to them all. 73's David
