Guantanamo Bay, KG4. Bill, W4WX, member of the Florida DXPedition Group
(FDXPG), will be operating from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, September 7-14th
as KG4DX (ex-KG4GC). He will be active on RTTY and some SSB along with
activity on the WARC bands and 6 meters. QSL direct or via bureau to his

Papua New Guinea, P2. P29VB Ross, N5HHS, will be operating QRP as VK4BRK
from Australia and as P29VB from Papua New Guinea from August 23 through
September 3. Look for him on 6 through 40 meters. Suggested QRG is 50110

Peru, OA. Jon N0JK, QSP's; Olli, EA4BQ/OA wrote that he plans to be QRV
on 6M this fall with 100 watts and a 3 el yagi from Lima. He observed
me operating at HC8N last May on 6M and I spent some time mentoring him
regarding 6M propagation. Jon N0JK
Greenland, OX. FYI Will probably be going to Arctic Station, Disko Isl.
West Greenland Jan 26th thru Feb 28th 2002. Info required on licencing,
whether I can sign OX/KL7SIX, availability of any 6M antenna there as I
have to come to Denmark first then fly via Ottawa. maybe i can catch up

Conway Reef, 3D2. YT1AD, Hrane, and a group of Europeans are planning
an expedition to Conway Reef. They leave Belgrade September 27th and
arrive in Fiji September 30, where they embark for Conway, expecting
to arrive there October 1 at 08Z. They hope to get on the air immedia-
tely. Ten days of operating ensue. Ops at present: YT1AD, YU7AV, YZ7AA
YU1AU, YU1DX, Z32ZM, possibly YT6A, RZ3AA and K1LZ. Bands: 160-6, CW,
SSB and RTTY. A different call will be used for each mode. (The Daily

Marshall Islands, V7. V73CW AC4G, Bruce Smith, is again on a plane
bound for Kwajalein, V73CW. Bruce expects to be operational this week,
August 21-30 according to a German publication, concentrating on 12
and 18 mHz, with the new ARRL endorsement for those bands. Says Bruce,
"As my work day is over, openings to Europe on these bands should allow
many QSOs if SFI allow. May try more 6 meter." The satellite rotator is
broken so he will not be on the satellites. He hopes to be on RTTY and
PSK31 next time, having just bought a Rigblaster at th Huntsville,

Maritime Mobile. Erwin PA3BLS, writes; Hello to you all. Theo PA3HEN /
M0HEN / OH5HZD/MM is now on board of his vessel for the next 3 months.
He is again on the route North South so OH/SM to EA/CT/I and maybe some
more. His trip starts in Rotterdam the Netherlands from there he is
going to Dordrecht on Wednesday also in the Netherlands to unload the
ship. The next destination is unknown, but Theo expect to leave Dord-
recht on Friday or Saturday. GB antenna has build a new antenna for
Theo on 1 boom there is a 2 el. for 6meter and a 4 el. for 2 meter for
the transport by plane are all parts of the antenna not more then 1
meter so tnx GB antenna for the solutions. Frequencies this trip are
6 meter 50.160 when split tx 50.160 rx 50.165. On 2 meter 144.290 so
when there is ES on 2 in his direction ask him to go QSY to 2 meter. I
make everyday spots on the cluster but not from 4/9 till 18/9 when I

Chad, TT. After spending his holiday in France Chris, TT8DX, will be
QRV again from Moudoun starting on aug 28. He will stay about one more
year. He intends to activate grid locator JJ88AA with a 6m HB9CV an-

East Timor, 4W. Hi DXers Its with pleasure that I announce that Amateur
Radio won't be forgotten in East-Timor now that the only active DXers
in the Territory have leave or are about to leave. Carlos Poinho, CU3FT
active DXer from the Azores Archipelago and a Telecom Tech. for the
Portuguese Air-Force is in Tour-of-Duty for UNTAET in Dili, Capital of
East-Timor, and will try to be as much active as possible with the
callsign 4W/CU3FT. The License has just been received from United
Nations New York and creditation procedures in process by DXCC. Special
attention will be given to 6m., specially the upcoming F2 openings in
October/November (remember Darwin/Australia was 59 in 50 Mhz October
last year in IN50), but also in giving continuity to ETARA - East-Timor
Amateur Radio Association,working together with local authorities for
a future licensing autority after full independence and in introducing

East Malaysia, 9M8. I wish to advise that the planned 50 MHz activity
from Kuching this September will not eventuate. Although I am still
going to Borneo for three weeks a decision has been reached to have an
"amateur radio free" holiday after considerable thought. Sorry to those

Peru, OA. OA4/N6XQ I am returning to Lima, Peru and will take 6 meters
Dates: 27 Aug thru 12 Sept Location: Lima, FH17 Rig: IC706 & 3 el yagi

we are lucky enough for an opening. The Lima beacon is off the air

Baker & Howland Isl., KH1. Hrane, YT1AD reports that the US Fish and
Wildlife Service has granted a provisional landing permission on KH1
for an amateur radio DXpedition (10 operators) to take place on 2-11

Midway, WH2M/WH4, N2IU/KH4 WH2M/WH4 (JE7RJZ) and N2IU/KH4 (JP1JFG) will
operate from Midway Island from September 23 to September 29. This will
be a HF plus six meter operation, 100 watts with a 5 element yagi on 6.
They will have a beacon on 50.125. QSL to JA1EOD. (QSP de SMIRK)
Barbados, 8P9JM Mario, K2ZD, will be QRV as 8P9JM on Barbados from Au-
gust 19 through September 9. Look for him on 6 through 40 meters with
wire antennas and 100 watts. This is a business trip so he will be QRV

Swaziland, 3DA0DF & 3DA0FR Sigi, DL7DF, and crew are heading back out
on a DXpedition. This year's target will be Swaziland, 3DA. The licenses
have already been issued and the callsigns will be 3DA0DF and 3DA0FR.
The DXpedition will take place between September 30 and October 13, 2001
Activity is expected on all HF bands plus 6 meters on CW, SSB, RTTY and
PSK31. The team will include: DL7UFR, DL7KL, DL4WK and DL7DF. Equipment
will consist of three transceivers, two linears, beam antennas, a Tita-
nex V80 low band vertical plus other vertical antennas. The team will
be on the usual DX frequencies +/- QRM, always operating split. QSL via

Rotuma, 3D2AG/P Antoine, 3D2AG, plans to go back to Rotuma as 3D2AG/P

Bhutan, A5 (Update) Tony, IK7WUL (A52UL) plans to operate also on 6
metres when in Bhutan]. He will be QRV for Europe between 8 and 10 UT

Tromelin Isl., FR/T. Jack, FR5ZU will be back to Tromelin Isl. from 6
September until 5 October and plans to be active on all bands SSB with

Greenland, OX. According to the branch column in OZ Magazine, the club-
station in Godthaab (nuuk) OX3NUK is very active - also at six meters.
One of the most active operators here is the club chairman OX/LA5KW
Einar. Lately Canada and U.S. have been worked on aurora. More info

Greenland, OX. The callsign XP1AB will once again be heard. XP1AB will
be used from Sondrestrom on the west coast of Greenland during the CQWW
SSB Contest on October 27-28th. XP1AB was last used in the 1960's and it
will now be possible to work this special callsign again. Sondrestrom is
in CQ zone 40, ITU Zone 5. A large group of OZ hams expect to arrive on
October 24th. They will use the first days to put all the equipment to-
gether. If we have the time they will work on all HF bands and 6 meters
with their own calls/OX. They may be active on CW before and/or after
the contest. They expect to leave on October 31st. QSL Manager is
OZ1ACB, and QSL is only possible direct to OZ1ACB. You can find many

Mozambique, C9. Fredy, DE0MST, reports that Reinhard (Rei), DL6DQW, will
be active as C91RF/7 (call not 100% sure), September 19-23rd, from Qui-
rimba Isl. His equipment will be an IC706 and a quad antenna. Activity
