Canada, VE. A QSP from Dana VE3DSS, says; Information to you re.
   VE3FN/VY0 activity on 6 & 2 ... Gang, This Wednesday I will be retur-
ning to Iqaluit for a couple of weeks. In past, I have operated as
VE3FN/VYO with 100 watts on HF with my trusty Drake TR-4Cw. A couple of
times I have also had 10 Watts on 6 from an old borrowed (tnx VE3KKL)
Yaesu FT-620B and I have worked a few on 6, as Dana has reported. I
recently obtained a used Icom IC-736 that runs 100 Watts on HF plus 6
meters. So I will bring it on this trip instead of the other 2 radios.
As on past trips, my HF antenna will be a sloping trapped dipole and
the 6 meter antenna will be a dipole mounted on the porch on the south
side of the house. I also plan to take my old Icom IC-202 that runs 3
watts on 2 meters SSB and CW. I will monitor 144.200, but it's fre-
quency readout is not very precise. I have constructed a small dipole
for 2. However, if space permits, I will bring along my 4-element
Cushcraft 2-meter yagi that I will also mount on the porch. Don't laugh
VY0HL (the operator of the VE8BY beacon) tells me that guys in Iqaluit
have worked south on 2-meter FM with simple stations. My QTH will be
in a small town house located on top of a hill about 200 - 300 feet
above Frobisher Bay. I have a clear shot south (in fact, the shot is
pretty good in all directions, although it will be blocked by the
house, especially to the north) and my antenna will be at least 100
feet above the antenna of the VE8BY beacon. I will have access to this
e-mail (from my work) in our office in Iqaluit and I will pass along
the phone number in the house when I arrive. However, as I will be
sharing the house with a colleague and I am expected to work while I'm
there, I would request that calls be at reasonable times, with a pos-
sible exception of weekends -- VE8BY has a nasty habit of being heard
in the south about midnight! If you hear VE8BY, we should be able to
QSO. I have applied for a VY0 call and may use it if I receive it in
time. But I still have a bunch of QSL cards for VE3FN/VY0 so I may
keep using that call even if I get the VY0. I will let you know when I
   arrive in FP53. 73, Ray Perrin, VE3FN.

U.K. Sov. base areas on Cyprus, ZC4. Steve, ZC4BS, informs/updates OPDX
that Steve/ZC4BS and Dez/ZC4DW, and the club station ZC4ESB are fully
active "on-the-air" on all bands from 160-6 meters, including the WARC
bands, and on all modes. Steve/ZC4BS is also operating SSTV (possibly
the only ZC4 ever on this mode!). Their antennas range from coaxial
dipoles to a 200 ft doublet (basic but impressive .. worked 204 coun-
tries in 5 months on a dipole !!!). Steve mentions that once it cools
down a little they will be building a few quad antennas for 15/10 m.
They are both active in most contests; usually one active on all bands
the other on a single band or even different modes to allow a better
chance of catching a ZC4. Steve states that over 25,000 QSOs between
them so far suggest their signals are getting out "OK", so check the
cluster because they will be listening for you (ZC4BS is also an avid
county hunter !!). Check out these interesting home pages about Steve:
