General information.
Denmark, OZ. I will try to be QRV during the Nordic Activity Contest at
the 27 th. from 18:00 - 22:00 UT, if the wether permits me to gain ac-
ces to my contest QTH in JO55CE at 128 m.asl (seccond highest point in
a 100 Km radius) with a very good take off, except to NE. Hope to see
You down the log. 73 de OZ6OM Matt.
Denmark, OZ. Sunday November the 4 th. the largest amateur rallye/meet-
ing in Denmark, with auktion, flee market and dealer stands, will be
held in Odense JO55EI. I have suggested to the arranging EDR branch
that I would like to arrange a SIX / VHF meeting at Saturday the 3 rd.
They find the idea fine, and have given a go of using the facilities.
Now, what I really like to know, within I put at lot of effort into
arrangeing such a meeting - would it be interesting and if can we ex-
pect visitors besides the OZ HAM's ? I really need some feedback here
over the next week, feel free to use the adresses; oz6om@qsl.net or
AX25 OZ6OM@OZ5BBS If I deside to give it a go, my idea is something
like this; Before noon OZ50MHz Group AGM, at noon lunch (Danish spe-
ciality), after noon, two lectures separated by a coffe break, round
18 or 19 oclock we will find a resturant. The evening can be spend as
a group or at Your own in the city. I will try to provide accomodation
at site (classroom, proberly free) or a budget hotel room. 73 de OZ6OM.

50.145 MHz SSB. This will be primarily a survey trip to help facili-
tate the planning of a larger "full-on" DXpedition in either late 2001
or early 2002. The pilots will be Bill, G0VDE for Europe and Adam,
VK4CP for the rest of the world. QSL via VK4APG. The web site for

operational on 6M with 100 watts and a 4 el yagi. He said he has heard

Brunei, V85. I wish to announce that the proposed visit to Brunei and
a possible 50MHz operation starting April 12th 2001 has been cancelled.
The reason being that there are no "discounted" seats available between
Sydney and Brisbane on the departure day connecting with the Royal
Brunei Airlines flight from Brisbane to Brunei. The Easter holiday
period is a bad time to travel on the Australian domestic network, as
you can see, discounted seats are already "sold-out". Sorry people,
but that's life, my budget doesn't extend to the purchase of full price
economy seats I'm afraid. 73 de Jack vk2gjh@usa.net (QSP de UKSMG ann.)
Guinea, 3C. Goodbye 3C5!! It sounds like my stay here is rapidly coming
to a close as I am accepting a transfer back to Houston in April. Six
metre operation from here is something I will never forget - it has
been an eye-opener to see how often the band is open to the north
during the day. 3C is not a magic spot for six metres, with less than
3000 qsos in the 3 years of operation here. But it is rare. And it is
rare on 6m for a good reason... with local TV on 48.250 (video), there
is no way there should be any operation during TV hours. Also, the
quantity of hash from the TV makes reception almost impossible without
a noise canceller unit ANC-4. I will be operational for the next 3
weeks or so, and will be qrv as much as possible. I'm not sure of the
exact date i will shutdown but will post it as soon as I know. 73's

Jamaica, 6Y. (Update/High Schooling For DXing). The DXpedition Univer-
sity (DXU), the first of its kind to provide a training ground for
energetic radio amateurs wanting to learn the foundational methods and
tactics of DXpeditioning, is getting ready to hit the DXpedition trail.
The group will be active from February 26th to March 6th signing 6Y8A
or homecall/6Y5. Activity will be on all bands from 160-6 meters, most-
ly on SSB and CW though some PSK31 is possible. In addition to normal
operations, the group will enter the ARRL DX SSB Contest with a Multi-2
entry. Operators will be Klein/WT6G, Mike/WA6O, David/K0COP, Tim/W6NS,
Walter/N6XG, and Kenny/K2KW. QSL 6Y8A via WA4WTG, others via homecall.
The group will have 4 stations with KW amplifiers on 160-6m, and use
Force 12 vertical arrays for 160-6m. The DXU ops are learning the
skills to run them with the best, so give them a call to help them
improve their pileup skills! Questions go to Kenny, K2KW at:
k2kw@prodigy.net Also visit the following Web page for more info at:
http://www.k2kw.com There are 2 slots available if anyone wants to
join the group. (QSP de OPDX #498)
Easter Isl., CE0. Several sources report to look for Arliss/W7XU and
Holly/N0QJM to become active from here March 29th-April 9th. Repor-
tedly, they will maninly concentrate on 6 meters. (QSP de OPDX #498)
San Ambrosio Isl., CE0X. (Bad News!). Early last week the team going
here announced that they received some good news. The SUBTEL authorized
the DXpedition to use the callsign CE0XT (their first choice) instead
of CE0ZT. HOWEVER, on Saturday, pilot station Dr. Bill, K6GNX, reported
"The team regrets to report that due to circumstances beyond their con-
trol regarding the boat transportation from Valparaiso to San Ambrosia
the DXpedition must be canceled. Everyone is safe and well but very
disappointed and they are returning home as soon as possible."

petent authorities open the 6 meters to radiohams. They note that not
