Guinea, 3C. 3C5I beacon is operational again. Watch for it on 50.096,
with 30 watts with beam heading chasing expected dx. Probably to Europe
during day, LP to VK or JA overnight. Any predictions welcome! If I am
not in the shack, it will be continuous. If I am around the shack, it
will call cq with a listening period. I will be out of 3c from Jan 31
to Feb 4 in ON land. Alan 3c5i kb2wf@hotmail.com (QSP de UKSMG ann.)

Nuie Isl., ZK2. Hi everyone, just wanted to tell all the "Sixers" that
a friend I will be on Nuie Island from 18 March until 6 April. We have
no special antenna for 6m, but the extended G5RV does a good job there!
So, maybe there will be some contacts (I hope so). Please check 50.118
from time to time. We will be there with our IC 706 in times when
shortwave is too crowded or there is no traffic. In 1999 we had a QSO
to TI5KD, and we heard several beacons from KH6, VK and ZL. The call
will be ZK2GEO again, and I'm the QSL manager. Bureau cards are welcome
and will be processed in order of receiving. So, CU in the pile-up then

Australia, VK. VK3SIX beacon. Both VK3SIX beacons off until further
notice. The 10M beacon suffered failure. The 6M beacon has been removed
for a frequency change to 50.293 maybe later in the year. One noticeable
aspect of pulling off the 6M beacon has been the cessation of opposite
direction calling on by stations within E skip range 110, thus leaving
the way clear to take advantage of what remains of the F2 DX. Steve

Greenland, OX. AC4TO Ken, writes; Here is some good news for all of
those people (myself included) who are tired of hearing OX beacons loud
but no operators. I contacted Sven, OX3SA, (GP60) and asked him if he
was interested in operating on 6. He said that he was and in fact had
some time ago obtained an Icom 505 through a trade but it never worked.
After this I put out some feelers and Rick, N3ZTZ, has generously dona-
ted an MFJ 6 meter rig to Sven. Additionally, Paul, N4VHF sent a 3 elem
yagi for 6, however Sven will not be QRV with the yagi until winter is
over. Sven is now QRV on 6 with the MFJ rig, an amp that gives him 50-
60 watts, and a delta loop antenna for now. Sven lives in Qaqortoq, the
same town as the OX3VHF/b so if anyone hears the beacon, Sven can be
contacted (at a reasonable hour in Greenland) by phone: +299 64 14 93
and Cell +299 49 36 03. Sven works shifts, so many times he is home
during the day and he said he will be QRV on 6 often and watching for
internet posts concerning 6 meter propagation. Please respect Sven and
understand that there may be times he will be unable to go QRV due to
other things going on, but he said he will be happy to provide an OX
QSO for all of us 6 meter fanatics out there! :-) Good Luck to all of
us who need OX, and many thanks to Rick N3ZTZ, Paul N4VHF, and Sven.

San Ambrosio Isl., CE0. (Update). Marco, CE6TBN, Team Leader for the
CE0ZT DXpedition to San Ambrosio Island during the second week in Fe-
bruary, reports that the team will use the following suggested frequen-
cies: CW - 50105 kHz SSB - 50120 kHz. The 6 Meters Beacon will be on
50.105 MHz. It will repeat every 30-45 seconds. The team states that
"they will probably listen on the same frequency, using the squelch of
the rig to cut the noise down. When a signal break the squelch, that is
a sign to get someone onto the 6 meter rig and begin making QSOs. We
probably will run the beacon at 50 watts so that the rig doesn't get
hot." DXpedition Web page for updates is: http://www.qsl.net/ce0zt
