Uganda, 5X. Hi All Just got back from 2 weeks in the UK so am back
watching 50.110. Have a suggestion to make - if any of you up there in
Europe hear 5Z television carriers suggest that may be a good indica-
tion of a possible opening to 5X ( - pls note propogation to ZS or 7Q
etc means little as far as opening to KJ60 goes) then you might like to
try sending me an SMS by e-mail to my mobile phone and if I am around I
will do my best to get near the radio. You can do this by sending an
   e-mail to: 077700010@mtnconnect.co.ug Worth a try anyway. Graham 5X1GS

Agalega 3B6RF Bulletin NR. 9 "We have to postpone" Our landing permit
for Agalega was cancelled, due to unexpected elections in Mauritius
which took place middle of September. Officials of the new Mauritius
Government have asked us to postpone the expedition for 2 to 3 weeks.
This for security reasons. This creates severe difficulties to us as
there are only two regular ships per year heading to 3B6. There is
only a ship available beginning of October and another one beginning
of May. Furthermore the time is too short to organise another ship and
in addition to that it would be far out of our budget. The ship which
we have chartered for our return from 3B6 to 3B8 costs us US $ 30,000
Also most of the members could not extend or change their leave /
holidays. This absolutely unexpected situation is a real shock, as
everything was prepared professionally, 2 tons of equipment are cu-
stoms cleared at the airport and we were ready to go. But I'm very ple-
ased to inform you that in spite of this fact the existing crew is
still highly motivated to work for the postponed expedition in May 2001
Unfortunately, probably not all of todady's crew members may partici-
pate in May 2001. In connection with the postponement the following
actions were/are necessary: Cancellation of airline tickets, Cancella-
tion of the air freight and get out the equipment of Swiss customs,
Found stores for the equipment for a period of 6 months, Transport of
the equipment to this store, Ship YAESU equipment back to Germany,
Ship antennas back to USA, Inform the DX community, Inform all the
sponsors, motivating then not to withdraw their donation and so on and
so on ! We of course shall continue with our open and comprehensive
information policy and are convinced to carry out a successful 3B6 ex-
pedition in May 2001. We shall publish, as already done, a monthly
bulletin to inform the world-wide dx community about the latest news.
The newest information you will find of course also on our website

Nauru, C2. I am starting to look at dates in December for the C21JH
(RI-39) 50MHz operation, however, I would like to receive some feed-
back from Oceania amateurs if there is a 'real' need for C21 on six??
As 10 to 14 days is quite an amount of time to spend on Nauru just for
amateur radio and expensive at that. I may consider cutting the opera-
tion back or combining it with another T30JH operation. Comments would
be appreciated, especially from the JA's who will have the most regu-
lar and best path to C21 on 50MHz. Need C21???? Then by all means let
me know, no feedback will mean nobody wants it and I can spend my De-
cember holidays in VK. 73 de Jack. VK2GJH vk2gjh@usa.net (QSP de UKSMG)

Kingman Reef, KH5K. The Kingman Reef / Palmyra DX Group will be on the

clock. Good luck and let us hope that the propagation gods smile upon
us all. Ned Stearns, AA7A estearns1@home.com (QSP de UKSMG)

Midway, NH4. Ted NH6YK writes; Aloha. I was on KH4 two weekends ago
   signing NH4/NH6YK. Sept 17-21 (UT) 6 M was open a couple times, VK4, 3D2
T30, V73, and YJ went into the log for 3 new ones on 6 m. from Midway
for me. I may have heard one JA station, and definitly heard others in
the Pacific working JA. No Hawaii activity was heard, though my friends
at home heard the VK4s calling me. I was using an ex-Navy HF vertical
which seemed to load up OK on 6M and was an interim solution. I wasn't
able to get the beam up while I was operating, but the Maspro 5el beam
was put up the next day in a fixed direction, and the rotor will be
installed shortly. With luck, we will have more activity on 6M from
Midway in the near future, I really hope so, since I don't have KH4
from home! Anyone needing information on operating from KH4 is welcome
   to e-mail me for details. 73 and aloha - Ted tbrattst@k12.hi.us -

Marquesas Islands, FO0SIX. To all 6m enthusiasts, As I promised to
some of you I will go to Marquesas Nuku Hiva. Depending on propagation
the dates will be as follows: anytime between October 14th and October
29th 2000. I will stay at least one week between these two dates with
a maximum of two weeks as early as 14th October and of course not more
than 29th October. I will use my old rig donated by JA1BK 11 years ago
for the FO0CW expeditions in Australs and Marquesas Islands and a 100W
amp with a five elements beam. If there's no significant improvement in
ConDX I will have to cancel as 6m operation is the only and unique ob-
jective and aim of the trip. For this operation and for my future trip
to Australs Islands (3 - 18 March 2001) I managed to get a new callsign
FO0SIX which may become in the future a 6m beacon for French Polynesia.
