Buthan, A5. Georges F8OP, writes; The team leaft Thimphu the 14.09. at
04.30 UT. 13.500 QSO completed but impossible to active the 6 meters
band. Apologies from the A52FH operators.

the FH/TU5AX documents have been sent to day, (for the second time),
direct to NC1L address in Newington, by registered mail. Didier hopes
the FH/TU5AX QSL's will be now soon accepted by the ARRL DXCC Desk.

The fo F2 values in EU are still way to low to support Es+F2 openings.
They peak at about 10 MHz, where about 12 MHz is required of Es linking
The 14 MHz we need for direct F2 is even further away. Looking back at
the last cycle conditions should improve dramatically in the next 2
weeks. The best times are when the flux is dropping (not plunging) and
with an A-index of about 25. Coming season should be better than last
one (No significant F2-openings), but I'm not too optimistic. With a
collapsing flux I don't believe it'll be better than fall '88 (few F2
openings). Peter, PA16 (QSP de UKSMG)

   Montserrat, VP2M. K5AND, K6MYC, and I (W6JKV) will operate from Mont-
serrat (VP2M) from around nov.3 until nov.19. Our focus as always is
50 MHz and 2 meter eme. We will have large antennas and a kw on both
bands. We hope to be on web but that may be unreliable. We have tried
to get good view toward Europe but only arrival will tell.. if no good
will try for second site, as we will have mutilple six meter antennas
and rigs, details will follow. Jimmy, Dick, and Mike. Jimmy W6JKV

Midway, Isl. NH4. Ted, NH6YK, will be active again as NH4/NH6YK start-
ing next weekend between September 17-21st. Although he has to do some
work on the island, it looks like he will have some spare time to ope-
rate from the station there. The station is currently running a 100
watts into a G5RV, Force 12 C3, Long dipole and Vertical antennas as
needed. Due to the quickness/shortness of the trip, it will be a phone
operation potentially from 160-6 meters depending on the propagation.
He states that he will take a printout of RS12/13 passes for Mode K.
Ted will be looking particularly for: South Dakota (his last for WAS)
stations to fill up the DXCC count, anyone on 6 meters and everybody
else (Europe when there is an opening, etc.). QSL via the bureau or
   direct. (QSP de OPDX #476)

Palestine, E4. Hi all, Palestine will be activated by JARL-Ibaraki
organized team focused on RTTY, 30m and 6M (50.115 beacon) on Septem-
ber 21-24. The callsign will be E44/JA home call. QSL via home call.
The team consists of 10 JA operators by JH1UBU (team leader), JA1AFF
(sub-leader), JA1UT, JA1UPA and others. Pse look for E4 if you have
never. Best regards, Hatsuo, JA1VOK ja1vok@jarl.com (UKSMG)

Spratly Isl., 1S. The FEDXP (Far East DX Ploiters) celebrates its 40th

stalled in a few days, very close to the Radio Club FY5KE site. 73

Tristan da Cunha, ZD9. Bob G3ZEM is on his way to operate as ZD9ZM,
from abt 5 to 25 September. It is mostly a HF and 160 dxpedition, but
he will be monitoring 50.110.5 for CW using a DX-70TH and Andy ZD9BV's
5el antenna. He has experienced 6m at the ZC4 club! More info on his
website www.dxtechnology/zd9zm BTW, I've just arrived back here and
started attacking a big pile of cards. Also, while I've been away the
boys have put the ZC4 six metre beam up a bit higher and on a rotator.

Oman, A45ZN. Tony Selmes will be returning again to Oman sometime in
September, for another 3 to 6 month tour. There is a new Minister of
Communications there so there is a possibility that there could be
changed attitude to a more widespread issue of 6m permits. (G4UPS)

for "time off," but will return to Nigeria and resume his 5N3CPR ope-
