Hello,

Check out http://hfradio.org - a site with many resources for Shortwave Radio
and Utility Listeners, Ham Radio Hobbiests, and others who might be
interested in this type of content.

So, come on by and check out my non-commercial SWLing/Ham Radio website. The
URL is http://hfradio.org and features DX information, including QSL
Route/Manager Lookups and Callbook Lookups; a Propagation Center including my
eAlert service (allows you to sign up with your email address. Then the
eAlert
system will send you email propagation reports.  I use this with my pager.);
Equidistant Azimuth Map software (allows you to create maps of any QTH); Swap
and Shop; Bookstore (I've hand-picked over a thousand book titles on radio,
etc.); Free website space for YOU to create your own Ham or SWL site, and
there's more. Easy to navigate. Open for suggestions.

If you feel up to it, after looking around the site, drop me a note (you'll
find my address on the site) and share your thoughts.

Too bad, it would be much more useful running on a real operating
system instead of one of Micro$oft's garbage piles.

Yep, it's not a bad site. I found a local kit made in Australia which
looks good too.

N1RCT's web site http://www.megalink.net/~n1rct/ says RITTY
has been withdrawn and is no longer available.

I have ethical problems with the idea of a protocol where you must pay
a license fee, though. Where's the hamradio spirit in that...

Apparently Brian has resurfaced. He was also keeping in touch by
paper mail, so people could get callsign changes processed, and a 75
baud fix came out while he was "away".

At least they'll license it, and it's available from several sources.
There are at least two other protocols for which equipment is only
available from one source. But, I understand your point of view.

Icom charges for their rigs - where's the hamradio spirit in that... I
guess anyone who designs and builds a product (whether hardware or
software) has the right to give it away or to ask to be paid for it. I
think they learned a lesson from Pactor-I where many mfgs. sold hardware
