Current Overview of the worldwide Packet Radio Network ################## # Flexnetrouting # ################## - Germany There is the biggest interconnected Flexnet-Network in Germany which already spread out over Germany's borders into other countries. - Northern Germany and close-by regions There's a belt of TNN-Nodes (more infos in NETROM-section), which uses the Netrom/INP3 protocoll. They are not compatibel with the routingprotcol Flexnet. So its destinations can't be routed over the Flexnetnetwork. Because of this it's often very exhausting to get the correct path to Northgermany manually. After this belt of TNNs, there are many Xnetnodes with some TNN-Nodes. The Xnetnodes are easy accessable over IGATE, because they can route Flexnet and Netrom/INP3 simultaneously. Some of the Xnetnodes haven't activated the Flexrouting, yet. Around Hamburg it was only possible to get into its flexnetsubnet through DB0AGI-14. Meanwhile there's a new alternative route to the south over the "Brocken"-mountain: *** route: DB0AGI-14 DB0AGI-15 DB0AGI DF0HMB DB0HHN DB0MAR DB0MAR-15 DB0MVP DB0SWM DB0SAW DB0BRO-1 There's the gatway DB0HST at the east coast. There would be also an alternative route over the interlinked path DB0HST <-> DB0RMV <-> DB0HRO <-> DB0MAR, but DB0HRO is a TNN-Node. This Node should speak Flexnet instead of Netrom or use the Xnetsoftware to get this alternative route. Yet another big Xnetnet is reachable over the TNN-Node DB0IL at Kiel. Flexnet isn't activated, yet. Here are the reachable Nodes (Netrom/INP3): DG8NGN-1 de DB0HHW 21:51:57 >n < db0il SH9600:DB0AZ 2.73 FH-FL:DB0FHF 11.84 FLTCP:DB0FHF-2 13.32 FLFLEX:DB0FHF-5 12.74 FL:DB0FLD 10.89 Kiel:DB0IL 1.06 Leck:DB0LEK 10.57 NMS:DB0NMS 2.76 RD-BOX:DB0RDB 2.74 RDbox:DB0RDB-8 8.84 SL:DB0SUE 7.64 SLDXC:DB0SUE-7 13.32 SYLT:DB0SYL 15.63 SYLTmb:DB0SYL-8 16.26 WCY:DK0WCY 3.88 Bake:DK0WCY-5 23.92 Too bad, there's no RF-route to Denmark any more, but maybe there will be one again sometimes. There was a good route to the "Helgoland"-RMNC over the gateway DB0DIM, but the interlink DB0DIM <-> DB0CUX (cuxhaven) broke. You can use the Gateway DB0CL to have a connection to DB0CUX: =>c db0cl link setup (2)... *** connected to DB0CL DG8NGN de DB0CL (20:57:00 UTC)>c db0cux Interlink setup... *** connected to DB0CUX =>d DB0DIH 0-9 4 =>c db0dih link setup (5)... *** connected to DB0DIH RMNC/FlexNet V3.3h => So far to the nothern part of Germany. - Middle- and southgermany and close-by regions In the southern path of Germany most nodes use the "flexnet"-protocol. It's based most of standalone components like the RMNC (software RMNC/Flexnet) or the TNC3/4e (Xnet). There are also PC-based Nodes with PC/Flexnet or Xnet (Linuxnet for example). Sometimes there are also TNC3/4e's which are controlling the RMNC. The routingtable of Flexnetnodes can hold only about 620 Destinations. This limit has been reached by this RF-based net already a long time ago. It's not possible to hold every node in the whole network, because the node with the worst RTT (runtime) will fall out of the routing table and the node with the better RTT will take the place instead in the routing table. IGATE can hold several thousands destinations, so IGATE will make bad connected RF-nodes reachable again. There's a RF-link to our neighbouring country like - austria. Austria has nine federal sates (including Vienna) and so the country is split into the regions 1-9. Callsigns of the nodes have everytime the format OE!X$$ with "!" as the federal state. In the RF-based network there are nodes from OE2, OE3, OE5, OE7 and OE9 reachable. To the federal stats OE4, OE6 and OE8 there's often no link, because of the disabled node OE6XAR. It's possible to get into the subnet over one Internetgatway. Try HG1PYY via HA1VHF like this: "c hg1pyy ha1vhf". Or you can do a hop over a SuperVozeljnode: "c 9a0xzg", then "c oe6xsr". Currently those destinations are reachable in the subnet: =>d * 9A0XZG 0-0 202 HA1VHF 0-0 12 HG1DXC 0-0 13 HG1PZA 0-15 216 HG8LXL 0-0 20 HG8PXL 5-5 18 OE3XDW 8-8 54 OE3XPR 0-12 49 OE3XPR 14-14 55 OE4XBU 0-15 78 OE4XLR 0-10 79 OE6XHG 0-0 220 OE6XHG 15-15 211 OE6XHR 0-15 195 OE6XPE 0-15 208 OE6XSR 0-12 100 S50DBC 0-0 16 You can also jump into another subnet over 9A0XZG (SuperVozelj) after the connection to OE8XDR. OE8XDR is often reachable on the direct RF-based network. The czech network has been interlinked more and more through the internet in last few years, but due to good cooperation we get them to only interlink in their own country. There are some ony-way routes from the wormholnet to the RF-based network, but thanks to IGATE we will contact the czech's nodeowners again to change this. Then also OK-gateways can take part on IGATE. - Slovakia The slovak network hasn't many nodes. There are some tests with Flexdelay (simulate higher RTTs between nodes) between the Wormholenet and the czech network. - Poland There are only a few RF-links to Poland. The open links to the wormholenet have been replaced by local gateways. - Switzerland There's a RF-based PR-network with Flexnetrouting all over the country Switzerland. HB9 has more RF-links to the surrounding countries. - France The french net is seperated into more subnets. There was/is a local french subnet with RF and Internet, which currently is connected to the wormholenet again. Among the TNNs there are also many Xnetnodes. Xnetnodes offer an ideal interface between the Flexnet and the Netrom/INP3-Net due to its parallel routing capabilites. The Netrom/INP3-Net isn't connected very well, so I just want to tell you some good gateways in region "west, middle, east, north and south" to jump into the net. In the western part of the net you can use the gateways DB0CL (Bremen) or DB0DIM (currently without external RF-link). Both gateways are directly connected to IGATE. You can try it also by RF to DB0SM, DB0PDF or DB0WHV. In the middle part, you can use DB0AGI-14 (also direct connect to IGATE). On RF you can try it over DB0FC, DB0HAN or DB0CEL. The southern part is only available directly on RF by the Nodes DB0GOE, DB0KH, DB0GIS or DB0EAM. In the eastern part DB0HST (Stralsund) will be a good choice (also connected to IGATE). The eastern part will speak both routing protocols if DB0HRO will speak flexnet :) To the north you can get through the TNN-Node DB0IL (Kiel) as described in the Flexnetsection. There are several Xnetnodes which do not use Flexnet, yet: SH9600:DB0AZ 2.73 FH-FL:DB0FHF 11.84 FLTCP:DB0FHF-2 13.32 FLFLEX:DB0FHF-5 12.74 FL:DB0FLD 10.89 Kiel:DB0IL 1.06 Leck:DB0LEK 10.57 NMS:DB0NMS 2.76 RD-BOX:DB0RDB 2.74 RDbox:DB0RDB-8 8.84 SL:DB0SUE 7.64 SLDXC:DB0SUE-7 13.32 SYLT:DB0SYL 15.63 SYLTmb:DB0SYL-8 16.26 WCY:DK0WCY 3.88 Bake:DK0WCY-5 23.92 To the netherlands you can get through DB0EEO. Some guys try to counteract against this with software modifications at TNN. You can get the routing table at TNN as well as Xnet with the command "n". You can use "n < (linkpartner)" to get the announced destinations from the linkpartner at Xnet. ########################## # SuperVozelj und ITANet # ########################## SuperVozelj is a slovenian Nodesoftware and is being used between croatia, slovenia and italy. The used hardware (up to 1,2 MBit-RF-links) is very powerful. Surfing arround the SuperVozeljnet is really fun due to the fast connection establishment. It's bad that SuperVozelj speaks neither flexnet nor Netrom/INP3. So far there's no way to import destinations of the SuperVozeljnet to another routing protocol. So we have to publish a gateway list. As we have seen in section "Flexnet" there are some routes to flexnet subnets through the SuperVozeljnet. Too bad, there's no automatic routing to these subnets available. But because of this we will write this information text. We also have the best overview, so maybe we missed some gateways to other nets. The SuperVozeljsoftware isn't easy to use, but with some basic commands you will cope with it. The command "v" will show you the automatic routing table. You can jump into the SuperVozeljnet through: "c 9a0xzg" (directly over the wormholenet) "c hg1pyy ha1vhf", "c 9a0xzg" (wormholenet with hop over a flexnetsubnet) "c s55yku 9a0xza" (wormholenet with hop) "c s50dbc" (directly over the wormholenet) "c ir9aci" (directly over the wormholenet) "c 9a0xsi 9a0tsi" (wormholenet with hop) The Itanet is being used in Italy. The only gateway from our rf-based flexnetnet is the node IR3SB. The linktime is often very bad. Here you can see a connect with fetching the routingtable: *** connected to IR3SB HELIOS:IR3SB>a Tabella chiamate automatiche I4UKI 21/12/2004 19:35 1 (FANANO) IA5MAG 21/12/2004 17:51 1 (FANANO) IK4IEE 21/12/2004 19:25 1 (FANANO) IV3IBZ 21/12/2004 18:44 1 (FANANO) Fine elenco. You can get in touch with a FPAC-Node by connecting to F5ZMJ-8. Sometimes the node isn't accessable through IGATE. But you can do a hop through the Wormholenet by connecting DB0SCS for example. In the wormholenet the nodes are connected across the internet and often all possible routing protocols are activated. The network traffic for flexnetrouting is high, but the traffic caused from Netrom/INP3 will be not able to carry on a 1200 baud RF-Interlink. By splitting the net into subnets the RF-based interlinks will not be crowded with unnecessary traffic. Also you can have a good view on the complete network then and the routing tables aren't be flooded any more. The wormholenet is a good addition to IGATE. Every Gateway in a subnet should also be connected to the wormholenet, but the nodes shouldn't exchange routing information. The only should offer a gateway to IGATE and the wormholenet. This technology is already used by DB0RES and DB0FHN. DB0RES (rf) is connected to DB0RES-10 (wormholenet) with the linkparameter "=". So no routinginformation will be passed between the nodes. Such a setup is also used at DB0FHN (rf) with DB0SCS (wormholnet). With that technology it's save that no routinginformation will be mixed through the subnets (better than every delaying software). The user will be confused by the destinations and nodes of the wormholenet and the connection will often fail (RF-Routingprotocols are not designed for close meshed networks with low linktimes (RTT), also due to multipath routes on the internet we have overtaking AXIP or AXUDP-Frames causing Frame Rejects on internetlinks). From IGATE you can connect to the Wormholnet through DB0SCS. DB0SCS is Xnetnode with some linkpartners. You can get the routingtables with "d" or "n". Last change: 2004-12-23
